Position Summary

Interaction Designers work as part of the User Experience Team, a group of passionate, talented Information Architects, User Researchers and Visual Designers, all focused on the needs, goals and expectations of our customers.  We love what we do and have fun doing it together. The ideal candidate has a thorough grounding as an interaction designer and information architect. He or she is able to conceive, define, produce and refine product ideas and can communicate the experience clearly to a wide and varied audience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the design efforts for a significant functional area for web and mobile sites Design innovative, accessible solutions with a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
  • Facilitate rapid, iterative user interface definition sessions by leading teams through white boarding exercises and discussions.
  • Define and present solutions through documents such as sitemaps, architecture-maps, user flows and wireframes.
  • Perform competitive benchmarks, audits, and expert reviews.
  • Create effective plans to design, prototype, learn and iterate quickly in an outcome-driven environment Generate innovative solutions and opportunities and find ways to apply those ideas to enhance business results.
  • Partner with User Research on research plans to achieve a deep understanding of customers, workflows and pain points. Integrate those findings into design through a fast-paced, lean, iterative process.
  • Collaborate with product managers, visual designers, and developers to build a shared understanding of the problem, product vision and your design approach Work side-by-side with developers to ensure that UX requirements are clear, and that final product adheres to specifications. Work together to address issues quickly when they arise.
  • Relate well to a variety of people regardless of backgrounds, knowledge, styles, talents, perspectives, values and beliefs and always maintain a positive outlook and sense of humor

Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • At least 7 years of user experience expertise in interaction design and information architecture
  • Portfolio demonstrating expertise in user experience design, including the research and processes that led to those design decisions
  • Expertise in standard and emerging UX software such as Axure, InVision, Sketch, Balsamiq, or similar prototyping software.
  • Open to Master’s degree in a related discipline (i.e. Human-Computer Interaction, Information Design, Industrial Design
  • Visual and animation design expertise
  • Experience creating and maintaining design systems and pattern libraries
  • Experience designing accessible web and mobile interfaces to meet WCAG standards
  • Experience in agile environments and lean UX design methods
  • Background in a retail/e-commerce environment and/or web-based application design
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, React and similar technologies a plus.
