Join a growing, but established, product design team to lead the experience design for digital identity and access management solutions for healthcare. The Senior Product Designer is responsible for optimizing Imprivata’s products for the entire product life cycle, from formative user research, to design and usability testing. This role provides deep insight and understanding into user behavior, needs, and motivation throughout all phases of the design process from project conceptualization, to implementation, and development. The Senior Product Designer will work with Product Managers, Software Engineering, and the wider Design team to research and design useful and usable products that meet business needs while working within technical constraints. Additionally, the Senior Product Designer will define design principles and patterns across Imprivata’s products and/or within product domains. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive product design activities for multiple industry-leading, customer-facing products available on desktop, mobile and web in the healthcare domain.
  • Deeply understand the business and user problems we are trying to solve to translate business requirements into innovative, usable, and technically feasible workflows and user interface designs.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops to align on business problems, workflows, and user needs, and/or ideation for solution frameworks.
  • Perform impact analyses of proposed features or updates, identifying the locations and the extent of the product that are affected.
  • Advocate for the user through customer interviews, user research, persona creation, and usability testing. Distinguishes the difference between buyer needs and end-user needs to develop empathy for their respective needs.
  • Establish a design direction by closely collaborating with Product Management, Software Engineering, and the Product Design team.
  • Envision and develop intuitive, scalable, and engaging interactions and experience designs for a feature or product that supports a holistic view of the optimal experience.
  • Create user-centered workflow diagrams, storyboards, journey maps, and concept sketches. Helps establish design and usability goals for a release.
  • Define and develop key workflows, interaction models, wireframes, and user interface design specifications as needed to be communicated effectively in a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Plan and execute user research activities to support data-driven design by incorporating insights from formative user research and user feedback into designs.
  • Create artifacts at the appropriate level of fidelity needed to effectively drive discovery and ideation, obtain early stakeholder and user feedback, and communicate the intent of the design solution to development for implementation. This could be anything from a whiteboard sketch to a fully interactive prototype with detailed behavior and visual specs.
  • Ensure design solutions meet product goals, vision, philosophy, strategy.
  • Present work during product design, scrum team, and stakeholder reviews, providing sound research and/or citing best practices to explain the information architecture, design, and interaction decisions that form the design rationale.
  • Drive projects to completion with minimal supervision; meets deadlines, delivers on requirements, supports development. Communicates issues early on to mitigate risks to meeting deadlines.
  • Work within brand guidelines to ensure designs are not only user friendly, but remain consistent with the rest of the products and Imprivata’s brand framework.
  • Demonstrate curiosity to develop additional skills and expertise within the product design discipline, along with expertise in the use cases, history and technology behind the products supported.
  • Mentor junior members of the Product Design team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Interaction Design or in a related discipline and 5+ years’ experience as an interaction designer, experience designer or a similar role.
  • Graduate degree in HCI or similar.
  • Expert understanding of human psychology and behavior around technology, interaction design principles and techniques.
  • An online or digital portfolio demonstrating breadth and depth in product design, conceptual thinking, and creative problem solving across platforms.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative to execute the design process and create highly usable, best-in-class designs for desktop, web-based, and/or mobile applications.
  • Experience creating workflow diagrams, low fidelity wireframes, highly detailed wireframes, and interactive prototypes for complex user flows for enterprise desktop, web and mobile applications.
  • Tracking and staying up to date on industry standards and trends, and platform (mobile, web, desktop) standards and technologies.
  • Ability to understand customer needs, motivations, and behaviors and ask the right questions to get the necessary information to move forward with projects.
  • Ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to development teams or executives.
  • Solid experience with user interaction design and prototyping tools appropriate for enterprise and mobile platforms like Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite or similar.
  • Healthcare experience and/or the drive and ability to learn quickly about our domain and our complex workflows.
  • Experience with the fast-paced Agile software development process, including rapid design iteration, prototyping, writing user stories, and using Agile project management tools such as Jira.
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills. Ability to prioritize projects and deliverables, and ability to make appropriate and sound decisions.
  • Ability to lead, work independently, and work collaboratively in a team environment.

We are seeking a Product Designer to join our team.

Join a growing, but established, product design team design experiences for digital identity and access management solutions for healthcare. The Product Designer is responsible for providing product design and user research support to the Product Design team, including designing and specifying behaviors and patterns in product UIs, and conducting user research from formative discovery to usability testing. As a design thinker this role tackles complex design problems with the opportunity of solving for practical constraints.

  • Deeply understand the needs of the end-user and advocates for their needs, while balancing solutions with business needs and technical constraints.
  • Understand the business problems we are trying to solve to translate business requirements into innovative, usable, and technically feasible workflows and user interface designs.
  • Work on problems of complex and diverse scope, identifying creative alternatives to find a viable solution.
  • Practice data-driven design by incorporating insights from formative user research and user feedback into designs.
  • Explore design alternatives by developing artifacts to the degree of fidelity necessary to effectively collect stakeholder and user feedback.
  • Collaborate with the product manager and tech lead throughout the design process as the design rationale is developed.
  • Present work during product design team and scrum team reviews, providing sound research and/or citing best practices to explain the information architecture, design, and interaction decisions that form the design rationale.
  • Provide copy for user interfaces.
  • Leverage existing interaction patterns, and contribute new ones as needed.
  • Drive projects to completion with supervision: meets deadlines, delivers on requirements, supports development.
  • Deliver artifacts at the appropriate level of fidelity needed to communicate the intent of the solution–which could be anything from a whiteboard sketch to an interactive prototype with detailed behavior and visual specifications–to software engineering under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Interaction Design or in a related discipline and 2+ years’ experience as an interaction designer, experience designer or a similar role.
  • Experience or education in core user interface and user experience design principles and practices: Human Factors, UCD, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Information Architecture, and Data Visualization.
  • Experience conducting user interviews, usability tests, heuristic evaluations, and competitive research/analysis to inform designs.
  • Ability to take direction and guidance well, ask for feedback early and often, and collaborate with design team and scrum team to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to ask the right questions to get the necessary information to move forward with projects.
  • Solid experience with user interaction design and prototyping tools appropriate for enterprise and mobile platforms like Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience designing web-based, mobile, and desktop application interfaces, preferably for enterprise software.
  • Team player and a curious attitude for all aspects of product development. Experience in Agile methodologies a plus.
  • Healthcare experience and/or the drive and ability to learn quickly about our domain and our complex workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
