Solving Complex UX Challenges at Scale with TripAdvisor
A clean and consistent user experience can be challenging to develop and evolve, especially given the breakneck pace of change in technologies, devices and processes. Our panelists will discuss TripAdvisor’s approach to solving these complex challenges on a global scale — focusing on how Research, Design/UX and Product teams work collaboratively to formulate hypotheses, test assumptions and implement updates to deliver an ideal web and app-based experience.
Neela Pal – Vice President, Brand Experience
Neela leads the Brand Marketing group at TripAdvisor. In her role, she is responsible for developing and executing our consumer and brand vision across all the communications touchpoints and working with our product partners to bring the brand to life through the product experience.
Prior to TripAdvisor, Neela worked at Arnold Worldwide as a Managing Partner, Head of Strategy for nearly 10 years. She also worked at McKinsey and Company doing brand and marketing strategy work for a variety of clients in retail, travel, and pharma. Neela started her career in marketing at P&G in brand management.
Neela received her MBA from Harvard Business School and her Bachelor of Economics from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Loi Sessions Goulet – Assoc. Director, Research and Usability
As a mixed-methods UX researcher and strategist, Loi leads UX Research & Usability at TripAdvisor.
Prior to joining TripAdvisor, Loi was a researcher at Facebook working on celebrity usage, friend sharing, youth, and groups. She also managed the Pages research team.
She received a PhD in Communication from Penn, where she examined how social media use impacts social capital, social network composition, and public interaction.
Loi has authored Pew Research reports and peer-reviewed journal articles on new media’s social implications, and has taught classes on new media & community at UC Berkeley and Penn.
Christine Vo – Associate Creative Director, Design
Christine Vo is an Associate Creative Director, responsible for helping shape and execute the design vision for TripAdvisor products across web and mobile. Prior to joining TripAdvisor, she was an Art Director at America’s Test Kitchen, producer of public television’s most watched cooking show and publisher of Cook’s Illustrated magazine.
Christine is a Board Member for the New England High School Journalism Collaborative (NEHSJC). Founded in 1987, the NEHSJC has introduced hundreds of high school students to the field of journalism through the creation of workshops and programs that let students work directly with professional reporters, photographers and editors from newspapers throughout the area.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
Jeff Chow – Vice President of Product, Consumer Experience
Jeff leads the Consumer Experience group at TripAdvisor. In his role, he is responsible for creating a delightful planning and in destination traveler experience powered by the deep insights of our community and the interests and mood of the traveler.
Prior to TripAdvisor, Jeff, led Product for the Play Newsstand group at Google delivering a personalized mobile first news experience to over 100m monthly users.
Jeff also founded and ran several startups in the mobile, consumer and marketing spaces.
Jeff received his BS in Mechanical Engineering at MIT.
