UXPA Boston Board Candidate: Olivia Akerley

Biography
I’m a UX/product designer based in the Greater Boston area with a background across telecom, energy, PetTech, eCommerce, EdTech, and FinTech. I focus on designing thoughtful, user-centered experiences that simplify complex systems and support real-world behavior. I’ve always enjoyed being part of the UX community, especially connecting with and learning from other designers. Outside of work, you can usually find me exploring new restaurants, planning my next trip (Barcelona and Mallorca are up next!), or spending time with my husband and dog, Kip.
Why join the UXPA Boston Board of Directors?
I’m interested in becoming a board member because I am very passionate about the UX community in Boston. Being part of this group has connected me with so many thoughtful, supportive, and talented people, and it’s something I’m really proud to be part of. I’d love the chance to give back in a bigger way.
In my day to day work as a UX/product designer, I’m used to navigating complex problems and collaborating across teams, and I’d bring that same mindset here. I care a lot about creating spaces where people feel comfortable sharing, learning from each other, and growing, no matter where they are in their careers.
I’d be excited to help support things like events, programming, or anything that brings people together and makes the community feel even more welcoming and accessible. This community has given me so much, and I’d love to be part of helping it continue to grow.
