World Usability Day 2018 – How User-Centered is Boston? Join us to explore the usability of our great city.
What will we be doing?
Celebrate World Usability Day by putting your UX boots on the ground and giving Boston a usability and accessibility once-over! Through this event, you will discover how our great city is designed for the good and welfare of its constituents and identify opportunities for improving the lived experience for individuals of all abilities. In this fast-paced, scavenger hunt inspired event, individuals will take to the streets of Boston alongside a user/expert from the Institute for Human Centered Design. A user/expert is an individual who has developed expertise by means of their lived experience in dealing with the challenges of the environment due to a physical, sensory or cognitive functional limitation. With the help of their user/expert, groups of individuals will be challenged to find as many examples of good (or not so good) design as possible – tagging their discoveries in a web-based mapping application. At the end of the night, awards will be given to the groups with the most active participation.

About World Usability Day
World Usability Day is a single day of events occurring around the world that brings together communities of professional, industrial, educational, citizen, and government groups for our common objective: to ensure that the services and products important to life are easier to access and simpler to use.
It is about celebration and education—celebrating the strides we have made in creating usable products and educating the masses about how usability impacts our daily lives. It is about making our world work better. It is about reaching out to the common citizen and spreading the message: We don’t have to put up with products and services that don’t work well and that human error is a misnomer.
No one should have to suffer through products and services that get in their way. People should not be made to feel stupid by technology.
