Grow Fast, Learn More: How one company nurtured its research team at scale
User Experience Research is becoming even more important now as organizations are shifting to a more customer-centric model. More and more companies are seeing the value of creating and growing internal UX Research teams. However, growing these teams is not easy, particularly in a fast-based agile environment.
At TripAdvisor, we’ve grown our UX Research team from 1 to 21 researchers in 4 years. How? We built the credibility of the research team by delivering great research. We communicated the results widely, which led to increased demand. Then we stayed nimble and pivoted the team from a shared resource to teams dedicated to specific business units.
We will discuss our key success factors at each stage of the journey, including how to:
- Influence leadership to increase headcount
- Hire the right team members
- Decide when to conduct research and when not to
- Stay lean and deliver quality research in a tight timeline
